In celebration of Sam's birthday, we're hosting another comment fic meme!

THE RULES

→ Leave a comment here with your prompt. Because it's Sam's birthday, I'm going to say that any Sam-centric prompts are okay, even if there's not much hurt/comfort in them.
→ In your prompt, please state your desired characters or pairings. All genres/pairings welcome, but no real-person prompts.

Example A: “Sam, Dean, gen, set in season 2. Sam has a vision and passes out. Cue caring!Dean and limp!Sam.”

Either way, Sam's not healing, just getting worst. All ends shmoopily after h/c hi-jinks ensue.

dime_for_12 wrote Sam suffers an injury that won't be fatal but that will be intensely painful for some time and/or take a long time to heal enough to get back in the hunt if it'll heal at all. Frustration, h/c, and finally he gives up and asks Dean to kill him, because he knows perfectly well he'll bounce back from that much faster.

But he will. There's no way they're actually going to let him go. Not them. Because the fact that they're still driving around in the same damn car across the same damn country is testament enough--they don't give up. Not on anything or anybody. It'll be like Flagstaff, probably; two weeks of paradise, living out of his shoes. Sam's sitting at the transit center, thinking about the dozens of centers between him and Palo Alto.

If you run away, said his father, I will run after you.

They'll probably tag him somewhere in Colorado and Utah, before the gas stats getting too expensive for Sam to be worth the trip. A few days, then. Maybe they can work something out.

On the other hand, Sam really wants his seat in POLI 134. He's pretty sure Dad wants to keep his pride just a bad. So maybe they won't.

Sam is asked to say grace at Jessica's parent's. Latin always precipitates strange things, so Sam's left with one option.

"He said to his father, 'I am running away.'

"'If you run away,' said his father. 'I will run after you. For you are my little bunny.'"

Jess's little cousin laughs because he called them bunnies. Her parents smile lightly. Her brother asks if two mice had also fallen into a bucket of cream, churned it into butter.

Sam says, Not quite.

Later, Jess apologizes, because she knows he's not Catholic, and he shouldn't have had to do that--and they've been dating a grand total of three months, so she apologizes for a lot of things she doesn't need to. Then she says, "I liked the bunnies, though." She says it was sweet.

To be perfectly honest, Sam says, he believes in God a lot more than he does those rabbits.

That was absolutely stunning and totally spectacular. I teared up basically every time you used the quote because man, I read that book, and holy shit you are my little bunny brings back some memories.

The book was original and poignant and ending is so good and so, so sad, and the way you used the text within the fic was MASTERFUL. I really hope you post this to your journal proper, because this is a fic I'd like to see laid-out all nice-like and memeable.

Wow this is gorgeous. Just gorgeous. Really one of my favorite fics about Sam and his family and leaving for college. So much pain for Dean and all of them, really.
