Ask the Mods and FAQ

Your friendly neighbourhood mod is back!

This is eventually going to be an FAQ post. Only, as of right now, there aren't any FAQs. So go ahead and ask questions, and we will do our best to answer them. We will then compile the likely-looking questions into an FAQ, and continue answering the others as they crop up.

Have at it!

Hello! I am currently helping to advertise this year's rendition of the [livejournal.com profile] spn_summergen fan fiction exchange, and I wondered if it would be okay to advertise it here. It's been the progenitor of a lot of really lovely hurt!Sam in the past, and since a lot of H/C in general often tends to be gen, I thought maybe members here might be interested in continuing that trend, haha. (I'd of course put a little note explaining this/the exchange's potential connection to hurt!Sam in the ad post.) Thanks for your time! :)

Absolutely! I can't wait for the challenge. :) :)

Hey! I've only recently joined LJ. I'm not new to fanfic, but I'm definitely new to posting on here. I've only been posting on FF until now.
I was wondering about how to be able to post to comms here. Like, I recently wrote a hurt!Sam fic for the spn-summergen challenge here on LJ a while ago. If it's okay, I'd like to share it to this comm but I'm confused as to how to post it on here.

Like, is it like posting in your own journal itself? Or not?

This may have probably been asked before, so sorry if I missed that. I'm still getting used to LJ.

I would really appreciate some help! :)

Thanks!

Prompt claiming

I'm new to the whole prompt claiming thing, but I'm very excited about some of the prompts for the most recent challenge and want to be able to get my dibs in quick. Is there a particular procedure for that? Do you just reply to the prompt on the master list saying you've claimed it? Sorry, if this is obvious, I'm a bit ditzy on LJ yet, it and I aren't seeing eye to eye quite yet. Thanks!

Yes. Thanks so much!

Hi! Is there an ohjess community or something similar? I'm new to writing SPN fics, so I'm still a little lost in finding communities.

Hi! No, I don't believe there is such a community. I know there's a comm for the women of Supernatural ([livejournal.com profile] spn_ladies), but nothing Jess-specific. If you're looking for fic [livejournal.com profile] spnstoryfinders is a great place to start. :)

Hi! I've heard about recent LJ TOS changes getting people concerned. In light of this, just wondering if you guys have any plans to move over to DW or anywhere else in the future?
