BOOST THE SIGNAL

In honor of the final season of Supernatural, the theme for this meme is “firsts and lasts”.

Here’s how it works:

Step 1: Leave a comment with a prompt. As always, since we are a Sam-focused hurt/comfort community, Sam should be the primary recipient of any of the hurt and/or comfort. Prompts can involve Sam being sick, hurt, angsty, or any other scenario that involves him in a hurt/comfort type of position. (Other characters can be hurt if you wish, but Sam is a requirement.)

To fit the theme of the meme (see what I did there?), the prompt should either be a “first” or a “last” -- such as, “Last thing Sam notices before losing consciousness”, or “Last time Sam eats gas mart sushi”, or “Sam’s last words to Dean”, but could also be something like “Sam’s first encounter with a ghost”, or “Sam’s first broken bone”, or “First time Sam hunts solo”.

Step 2: Make all the things! Prompts can be filled as soon as you have a fic or art to fill them!

Step 3: Post it here! Post as a comment to the prompt, or post a link directed to the fanwork you have created to fill the prompt.

Spring already? Sam fans know what that means: May 2nd. The day that Sam Winchester came squalling into the world. Happy Birthday, Sam!

And to commemorate—because that's the way we roll—OhSam will be hosting a Hurt vs. Comfort meme! Beginning immediately, like today, leave a single word or short phrase in the comment section below for OhSammers to be enticed into creating a fanwork for—art or fic or both! The catch is you must choose between either 'hurt' or 'comfort', or in other words, 'angst' or 'schmoop'.

There are no official claims, but we encourage replying to a prompt if it sounds tasty. For instance: “Bee sting? Oh BOY do I have some good Dean-soothes-toddler-Sammy ideas for 'comfort'!” Or contrarily, “I'll take 'bee sting' and 'anaphylactic shock' for $500, Alex. All the 'hurt', please.”

As many people can claim a prompt as are inspired! The perk to officially expressing your interest in a prompt (and whether you're considering 'hurt' or 'comfort') is that it might be fun to team up with another participant to create coordinating fills: one person could set up the injury (hurt) and their partner could heal it (comfort). Or artists and authors could tag-team up on a prompt. Totally up to y'all!

On May 2nd, we will open a fresh post for the fills. Post a reply there with your work or, if it's a lengthy fic or art, a link to the work in your journal or elsewhere. And keep posting your fills until you've purged your demons! There is no official end date for this event.

Hey, Sam fans! ~~Lazy~~ Friendly mod here, just checking in! Things have been a little quieter around here lately. I feel like a terrible mod because November was insanely busy for me and then I got all obsessed with Star Wars and neglected a lot of SPN-related things.

So, just wanted to pop in and see how people are doing, what's new, what's good. I'm still trying to make my way through reading fills that I didn't get a chance to read during the November meme.

quickreaver and I were talking about doing an event of some kind later in February or March. So until we've got our next big event ready to go, I just wanted to let you know we're still here! *waves*

As a reminder, submit any hurt/comfort, Sam-centric original work (fic, art, graphics, poetry, gif sets, vids, you name it!) based on one of the 200+ prompts in the prompting post.

What happens on Monday?

A masterpost will go up here on OhSam to keep track of the fills.

You can post your work on either LJ or tumblr (tagged with #celebratingsam).

Make sure to reference which prompt you're filling in your post.

If it's a fic, include any rating, warnings, and pairings information for readers.

If you post a fill on LJ, please comment on the masterpost with a link to your LJ.

Tumblr users should tag with #celebratingsam and mods at spnlittlebro and ohsamtumbles will reblog (these will be placed in queue to spread them out so don't worry if you don't see it reblogged right away).

Hey, Sam fans! It’s almost time to celebrate the birthday of our favorite little brother, and we’re doing that the way we do it best – with a meme! This time it’s a little different, though. With our recent addition of the OhSam tumblr, we’re teaming up with SPN-littlebro to host a cross-platform birthday extravaganza!

Here’s how it’s going to work.

Saturday, March 25th: A master post will go up here on the OhSam LJ for people to leave one-word/one-phrase prompts (for example: “autumn”, “blood loss”, “surprise”). Please leave only one prompt per comment, to make it easier to keep track of prompts and fills. Anon posting will be enabled for non-LJ users to leave prompts, as well.

Saturday, April 1st: The masterpost for prompts will close, and no new prompts can be added after this point. There won’t be any claims – each prompt is open and can be filled by multiple people. We’re excited to see the variety of things you all come up with!

April: You have the month of April to work on fills. These can be any hurt/comfort, Sam-centric original work (fic, art, graphics, poetry, gif sets, vids, you name it!).

Monday, May 1st to Sunday, May 7th: Another masterpost will go up on OhSam LJ to keep track of the fills, and you can begin posting your work on either LJ or tumblr. If you post a fill on LJ, please comment on the master fills post with a link to your LJ. Tumblr users should tag their creations with #celebratingsam and, if you can, post a link of LJ when you fill a prompt.
