Author: crazybeagle
Rating: PG-13
Genre: Gen, hurt/comfort/angst
Characters: Dean, Sam, Bobby, OCs
Spoilers: Through 6.22
Summary: Extended coda to The Man Who Knew Too Much. Cas leaves the boys behind, and Dean finds himself with one broken arm, one broken car, and one broken brother. But they've had worse, and Dean figures that as long as Sam is alive and safe and with him, they can deal with everything else. But it turns out he doesn't know the half of it. Title taken from "Stable Song" by Gregory Alan Isakov.
Warnings: Psychological trauma, insanity, allusions to torture, mildly graphic self-harm, broken bones, severe burns. (Not all for the same character.) Allusions to schizophrenia but I'm not claiming to diagnose or portray it. …Yup, that should cover it. Sammy definitely gets the short end of the stick in this story, but I'm pretty indiscriminate with the whump here, so Dean and Bobby aren't really safe either…
AN- Sorry this one took awhile. Sam's point of view doesn't come as easily to me as Dean's does but this was a fun challenge nonetheless. ...And I made the mistake of starting a new TV series, or new to me, BBC's Merlin. And it hasn't been conducive to fanfic productivity... BUTBUTBUT.... >glomps Merlin<
