Title: you’ve been all over, and it’s been all over you
Author: 27_jaredjensen
Characters/pairing: Sam/Dean/Cas
Word count: 1,800
Summary: He’s lucky you found him when you did, they tell Dean, when Sam’s laying on a bed barely big enough for him and breathing with the help of a fucking machine. It’s one, maybe two in the morning, and Dean is still holding Sam’s damp, blood-stained jacket in his hands, and the doctor’s saying all kinds of things like infection-lungs- fever-damaged vocal chords-dehydrated but all he hears is lucky to be alive.
A/N: prompt (that I kind of butchered) from familybizness, title from U2 song, characters from creators of Supernatural, etc.
They climb into bed after they eat, Cas behind Dean so that he can knead the tight muscles in his lower back. Dean runs his hands over Sam’s pale, warm skin and tries not to count the ribs he can feel under Sam’s shirt. All of wounds are finally starting to heal, but he’s going to have scars. There are still bruises, though faded, on his throat, and Dean traces them with his fingertips and tries to determine if the faint squeak he can hear when Sam exhales is something to worry about or not.
