Summary: AU in which Dean gets between Lucifer and Cas, preventing Castiel’s death and eventual return to full-blooded angelhood. In the following months, a mostly human Cas gets a job at Taco Bell, Dean recovers from wounds given to him by Lucifer, and a silent, shell-shocked Sam wanders in from the cold.

Author's Notes: Written for the 2010 spn_summergen  Fall Free-For-All Fic Fest and roque_clasique’s prompt: Future!fic. Castiel is SUPREMELY unqualified for any human job -- sure, he speaks every language on earth and is more or less a computer, but he doesn't exactly have a resume. Dean was injured pretty badly at the end and has settled down nearby (maybe with Sam), and since he can't do much by way of work he doesn't mind coming to Taco Bell every day to hang out while Cas painstakingly assembles burrito after burrito and builds his customer-service experience. With maybe just another of Roque’s Summergen prompts mixed in there.
