All he knows is that the world is dying, everyone is lying to him and that somehow, somewhere, something went terribly wrong. Because someone said Yes when they should have said No, and someone else paid the price.

Wow... this chapter... well, I can barely say anything coherent here... It was AMAZING!! You really surprised me this time! Here I thought I had all the theories covered but Sam being dead and Cas having his soul had never ocurred to me!! And still, it makes SO MUCH sense!! As I see Sam was suffering terribly being alive, but his soul was aslo tortured when he died and went to hell. So this was the only exit!! I wonder if Cas did it by himself or if Sam asked him to... Really, it's an amazing premise, and now I'm terribly worried if Sam's soul is kind of out of it, after all he's been a rogue spirit for a hundred years, hasn't he?

Okay, I'll rewind and start from the beginning, I *love* your Castiel (I know I've said it before, but I DO!!), Dean thinks he is not pulling his punches but he certainly IS!! I don't think Castiel is lying at all, in fact, he is being honest but at the same time he's protecting Dean. The bives of fondness and betrayal he sends all the time are priceless. And of course he didn't abandon Dean, he obviously knew Lucifer wouldn't hurt him! (Stupid Dean, snap out of it already!!). When he mentioned Sam's only reason to keep going was getting back Dean, my eyes got full of tears... oh sam... I bet Michael tortured him often and took great pleasure in doing it with Dean's body so it was even worse...

The description of Sam's body was... well, tough to read. He obviously had had it really hard. I was kind of dissappointed in Dean when he didn't remember him. Some subconscious part obviously did, since he desperately held his hand but still... This is not normal amnesia, either Michael did something to his mind or it's a self-defense mechanism.

The conversation with Lucifer is perfect, that strange mix between cluelty and caring, and how he looked at Sam... and how he goes on burning vessel after vessel. I wonder if the poor humans that offered knew that the only reward would be the eternity in hell. And damn him for make Dean waver again. I hate Dean doesn't see this world is worth saving, is like he is still giving up!! And maybe Castiel killed Sam, but that would work perfectly with my theory that Sam wanted him to!

And last, WILL ANYBODY ELVER SAY THE WORD 'SAM'????? This is getting frustating, it seems like he has been forgotten somehow. I'm more and more convinced Sam's name is the key to Dean's memories.

I will eagerly wait for next chapter because I'm really dying to know Sam's part of the story!! Thanks again for the ride!!

Heh. I found, I'm always looking foreward to your comments. And I really have to restrain myself to not give anything away.

Sometimes you are so close with your speculation that I almost forget the parts that prove you right haven't been posted yet. (You're not right about everything, though.)

About Dean's issues with the world: the way I see it, because he hasn't consciously lived trough the last two hundred years, his mindset is still pretty much the same as when he said yes. He can't remember, but he also hasn't really changed yet.

I'm glad my speculative rambling pleases you, this story is so evocative that I would have to seriously restrain myself if I had to say simply 'thank you' or 'love it'. It wouldn't do it justice to what it means to me!!

I'm so happy you decided to pick up A Necessary Evil again. It's going to be a seriously awesome 'verse!! and I'm absolutely dying to read what happens to the boys. Not sure how one can pick up the pieces after such a terrible experience...

I'm not sure how much sense that story even makes. It's from an outsider's pov (I hope you don't mind those) and a little misleading since that person is getting some things wrong. Other stories will offer further explanation, though.
That's the advantage of a 'verse as opposed to a multi-chaper fic: the pieces don't have to come in the right order.

Outsider's POV stories are very difficult to do, but I'm sure you'll nail it!! These kind of stories are always a challenge for readers to deduct from what the person is seeing and thinking what is really what's happening! So it's very interesting!!!

And really, I only asked for a sequel but now when you said 'further stories' I realized that a "'verse" means a lot more!!! The possibilities are endless! and I'n so anticipating the dealing and consequences in all the characters (I really hope Cas makes his appearence again someday and gets confronted with what he did).

In the stories I have in mind, Cas is a constant, but not easily accepted part of the boys' lives. He's trying, but calling Dean overprotective wouldbe an understatement, and Sam, apart from being traumatised and suffering some long-therm consequences, understandably isn't that fond of angels anymore.

I actually planned another story first, which among other things would have explained what's wrong with Sam. Thing is, I didn't feel like writing it just now. Hence me being enthusiastic about 'verses. :P
It'll be written later.

Having said that, you have a lot of confidence in my writing. Me, not so much. But the outside pov offers an angle here I find interesting to explore. In the end, writing this fic before the explanatory one was also a conscious decision.

Yep, that's me, 100% confident in your writting!! I'm not saying it's easy, but you're amazingly talented so I'm sure the final result will be awesome! I have yet to read anything written by you that I haven't absolutely loved to pieces!

Your confirmation of more Cas trying to make amends and the boys rejecting him has made me very happy. Cas is going to have work really hard!! (and hopefully kill Zachariach and another couple thousand angels as atonement).

I really want to know what's wrong with Sam, I always wondered what would be exactly the consequences (apart from the normal consequences of gang-rape, obviously), I don't think the supposed grace they were puttin into him would do any good....

But I'm a very patient person (I manage to never read spoilers, for example!). And specially when I know the wait is definitely worth it like in this case. So I will wait for this story and all the ones following!

I shall hurry up and finish this, then. Though, by schedule, I'm working on Great Blue World today. (I usually write at last a thousand words for that one every other day. Though I had to postpone that a lot lately in order to finish my big bang in time.) If I finish early, I can continue the fic for you. (But there'll be another thousand words for that tomorrow anyway. I write altenating by day, when I can.)
