Author: crazybeagle
Rating: PG-13
Genre: Gen, hurt/comfort/angst
Characters: Dean, Sam, Bobby, OCs
Spoilers: Through 6.22
Summary: Extended coda to The Man Who Knew Too Much. Cas leaves the boys behind, and Dean finds himself with one broken arm, one broken car, and one broken brother. But they've had worse, and Dean figures that as long as Sam is alive and safe and with him, they can deal with everything else. But it turns out he doesn't know the half of it. Title taken from "Stable Song" by Gregory Alan Isakov.
Warnings: Psychological trauma, insanity, allusions to torture, mildly graphic self-harm, broken bones, severe burns. (Not all for the same character.) Allusions to schizophrenia but I'm not claiming to diagnose or portray it. …Yup, that should cover it. Sammy definitely gets the short end of the stick in this story, but I'm pretty indiscriminate with the whump here, so Dean and Bobby aren't really safe either…
AN: At long, long last, the final chapter to this story. To every single reader of mine, you all get virtual apple pie and ice cream and miscellaneous yummy coffee beverages, and I seriously spent more time smiling big, doofy smiles at my computer screen over the past five months than I ever have before (and this is coming from a very long, probably unhealthy history of big, doofy smiles at my computer screen).
This includes one or two vague spoilers for 7.01, but nothing you'd probably pick up on if you haven't seen the episode.
"I'm crazy, aren't I?"
