All of these fan discussions about the final scene in 6.06 where Dean beats Sam into unconsciousness has brought up a question for me.
It is canon that Dean has issues that he tries to keep buried about the trauma of his mom's death and his conflicting resentment and respect of his dad and resentment and protectiveness of Sam. It is also canon that Sam will at times (whether intentionally or not) provoke an emotional outburst from Dean that results in Dean hitting him.
The bunny:
Either as weechesters or teenchesters, Sam sees that Dean is struggling and provokes the first fight that sets up this behavioral pattern of Dean repressing until he explodes and takes it out on Sam.
(Extra points if you give both of their POVs on the fall-out.) ;-)
