Title: Each Our Own Devil

Summary: In a bid to communicate with Lucifer, demons attack Sam and Dean and take one of Sam's eyes. Truths are revealed and the civil wars in Heaven and Hell come to a head as the brothers struggle to cope.

Warnings: SPOILERS upto and for 6.10: Caged Heat, AU after 6.09, swearing, aaaangst, lots of blood and gore, violence, disturbing imagery, metaphor-abuse, the sheer surreal-ness of writing from Robo!Sam's point-of-view. I also apologise in advance for all the factual/medical inaccuracies you may find in this story.

This is my third - and final - submission to the Sam-centric h/c challenge. It's finally over, after haunting my every waking moment for the past month or so. *collapses*

As the story progresses, you will see I haven't followed the prompt to the letter, but the essentials remain. I would love feedback on this, because I've really laboured over this thing, and I'm always looking to improve my writing.

Also, also: I just realised I've written more than 22,000 words for this fic challenge in the last two months, which, no mean feat, given how lazy I am. Do I get a cookie?

Fibromyalgia plot bunny

I've been having this urge now for a while to read a fic where Sam suffers from fibromyalgia (I know it's more common in women but it can also affect men), so I decided to try posting this here.   I would like it to be gen.   Comforting and helpful big brother Dean who maybe has to remind Sam to take care of himself sometimes is also awesome.  That's it, I'm not too particular in details other than those (it could be cool if John was in the story as well but that isn't a must).  Any takers? I'd be ever so grateful. :-D

Edit:     I decided to add this comment for a little more info, as I'd actually thought of this possibility but failed to mention it in my post: "Fibromyalgia affects different people to varying degrees, but I don't think Sam could deal with a lot of the aspects of hunting, all the extreme physical aspects of it.
I can't see John handling the news well, if they finally got a correct diagnosis, or Dean, actually, because I'd think it would really get in the way of hunting. Still, it would be a good subject for someone to tackle, rather than the more common hurt/comfort scenarios."

The snow continued to cascade down, and Christmas lights shined through the pristine white mounds around the house, even though the holidays were officially over. All in all, the entire scene that lay outside the frost covered windows was picturesque. Yet the house’s sole occupant only stared blankly out the window, barely taking much notice of the beauty around him.

Author's Notes:  I, er, got a little carried away and ran over the 2k requirement by a lot. Yikes. I suspect de_nugis  had to have known that I’d go nuts with this prompt, though I don’t know if it exactly turned out like she’d envisioned. Hell, it didn’t even turn out like I envisioned. It just… went. Sorry for the unexpected porn. It just freaking happened and as I don’t usually write porn, well, yeah. Weird. Especially since it all takes place in the context of Sam’s dreams. In case you were wondering, the title is from the Kings of Leon tune “Closer.” I nearly blew up iTunes playing it while writing this. As a final note, there’s a couple of hard lefts in this fic. I don’t know how your dreams go, but that happens to me a lot when I’m dreaming, so, it happens to Sam as well.
