AUTHOR'S NOTE: This story came into being because a friend and I were tossing around "what ifs" and found ourselves very much intrigued by a "what if Sam or Dean were really in therapy with a good therapist (at least, with a better therapist than has ever been portrayed on the show)"? My friend double dared me, and I dove into the attempt. It was a lot harder than I had imagined it was going to be. How do you make two people sitting and talking in a room interesting? Well, it helps when one of them is an anguished Winchester.

Author's Note: Written for my own prompt over at ohsam's birthday challenge. As no one filled it, I decided to do it myself. The prompt was as follows, "Season 3, Mystery Spot, Gen. How does Sam celebrate his birthday during the time loop? By watching his brother choke to death on cake. Yeah, definitely not a good day. That is, until Gabriel steps in and (feeling slightly guilty) gives Sam a break. One day where things are normal and Dean won't die until midnight. Sam enjoys it to the fullest." I changed a few things during the course of writing, but the essence of the prompt is still there. Hope you enjoy!
