So in order to celebrate the glory that is hurt!sick!Sam, we are hosting a comment-fic meme. You guys probably know the drill by now, but just to be on the safe side, I'll post a couple of rules below.

I will be keeping track of the meme and compiling a master list as new stories appear.

Ground Rules:

1. This is a Sam-focused hurt/comfort community, so Sam should be the one in the hurt/comforted role. Your prompts may involve sick!Sam, hurt!Sam, angsty!Sam, basically anything that results in Sam being on the receiving end of hurt/comfort. (No rules against whumping other characters as well, of course, but you have to whump Sam first. ;) )

2. Comment to this post with your desired characters or pairings, and a prompt. All genres/pairings are welcome, BUT no RPF/RPS, please. Please focus on the fictional characters only.

Example A: “Sam, Dean, gen, set in season 2. Sam has a vision and passes out. Cue caring!Dean and limp!Sam.”
Example B: “Sam/Dean, trauma. Sam is injured on a hunt, Dean freaks out when he thinks Sam might be dead.”

3. You can leave as many prompts as you like, but please write one prompt per comment. If you've got a few (and feel free to prompt at will!), comment with each separately. This is to keep the meme manageable.

4. Your prompts can be as short or as detailed as you’d like. i.e. "Sam, Dean. Fever." Or a three-paragraph epic with details. The more detailed your prompt, the less wriggle room you're giving the writer, though, so bear that in mind.

5. Scroll through the comments and when you find a prompt you like, write a fic in reply to the comment. There is no word count limit.

6. More than one comment-fic response to a prompt is totally acceptable, and in fact encouraged. The more fic, the better!

sytaxia: After Sam has gone through detox after My Bloody Valentine he's still weak and feverish. Dean and Cas take care of him.

dime_for_12: Aftermath of Mystery Spot. Sam in serious fucking trauma, Dean slowly realizing the extent of what happened (hundred days of watching him die, six months without him). Sam needs to touch him at night to know he's real, afraid to sleep because he may wake up back in the Trickster's world without Dean, etc.

authoressnebula: 5x14. At the end of the ep, Sam locks himself inside the panic room using the original locking system (keep those inside safe from those outside). They've added anti-angel protection since last time so neither Dean nor Castiel can break in.

4422shini: The semi-bulletproof advantages of being marked as the devil's chosen vessel - being able to get between your brother and bullets. Trouble is? It fucking hurts, reapers turn their backs to you/hide behind their hands when you die, being brought back to life is scary, and your brother is really fucking pissed off at you for having done it.

dime_for_12: Something involving a bullet wound. Either one that Dean has to clean and stitch up or one that is already healed.

wicked_crayon: Sam's absolutely terrified to drive, feels just as guilty over John's death as Dean, has the occasional nightmare, and refuses to get behind the wheel.

ratherastory: Sam and Dean go undercover as Manly!Maids to investigate a haunting. Sadly, Sam has a dust allergy and just keeps sneezing.

pixymisa:Sam's always eaten more healthy than Dean, but he does have the occasional greasy burger. However, Dean's noticed since 4x22 Sam's eaten nothing but salads at every meal. They don't even have any meat in them. Can that be healthy? (Sam's gone vegetarian after quitting demon blood, avoiding the taste of anything even remotely like blood/meat.)

dante_s_hell: After Jump the Shark, Sam was bleeding so profusely. Surely there should be some h/c after that? :) He'd be weak and in pain and unable to do a lot of things for a few days after that.

Aftermath of "Heart." As soon as they walk out of that apartment, Sam falls back in the same place he was after Jess's death, except worse because it's the second time it's happened and he had to pull the trigger this time. He's shut down, doesn't want to talk, and Dean has to pull him out of it.

pixymisa: a severely injured S5 Sam gets sent to the past and is met by his preseries self/S1 self.

saberivojo: Pre-series, Sam is cleaning the knives at his father's request, and Dean's out for the night. In typical teenage boy fashions, screws around with them, trying out fight fighting moves he's not ready for. He cuts himself and tries to hide it from John, but John finds out.

saberivojo: Old Weschesters. It's no secret that Sam doesn't have as good of a seat on a horse as Dean does...

dime_for_12: Michael and Lucifer face off in their best Winchester suits. Michael wins and sends Lucifer back to hell. He also sends Sam with him. Dean goes to find his brother. Sam suffers. A lot.

faye_dartmouth: Some baddie is beating the crap out of our boy. The beating could be physical (fists and feet) or more magic related (along the lines of what happened to Dean in the season one finale). Dean is being forced to watch, but cannot intervene. All Sam has to do to get the whumping to stop is to tell the baddie to go pick on Dean instead. But he won't. No matter how much Dean begs him to.

pkwench: Wee!Chesters - Sam experiences night terrors.

melanth0: Sam goes insane. Not, oh, I'm a little crazy, but INSANE in whatever form you choose and Dean must reach him somehow.

m14mouse: The shifter in Skin really worked Sam over good. Some Dean taking care of him after and the two of them not dealing with what the shifter told Sam.

rosestoo: Michael and Lucifer face off in their best Winchester suits. Michael wins and sends Lucifer back to hell. He also sends Sam with him. Dean goes to find his brother. Sam suffers. A lot.

m14mouse: Wee!Chesters - A very wee Sam gets separated from John & Dean and winds up in protective services. He's sent to a state home while they try to figure out who he is, what to do with him. Sam does not thrive in this new environment and keeps looking under his bed and in the wardrobe, closets, big scary industrial kitchen, basements, attic ... everywhere for Dean and his Dad.

tifaching: History is littered with stories of brothers. This is one of them. Two brothers set out to save the world. The cost is high and the older brother is lost. It's said that the younger brother walks the country calling for him. From Maine to Kansas to Oregon, he walks. In torment, looking. Always looking. There are those that hunt things like him and they try, they do, but there are no bones to burn, no spells that will cast him out, no rituals that will ease his suffering. The only way to put this tormented spirit to rest lies in summoning the brother to take him home.

vail_kagami: Castiel takes care of Sam and Dean when Sam comes out of the panic room in 5.14.

vail_kagami: Following their separation in Good God Y'all, Sam gets a ride from someone allied against him. 'Break him,' they said. So the bad man, rapes him to a bloody mess.

They should leave.

Granted, Dean doesn't have a lot of experience with funerals that don't somehow involve gasoline and shrouds, but he does know Sam. He's had years to know Sam, and right now the one thing Dean knows about Sam is that he's close to breaking.

Maybe it's a luxury that Dean doesn't have to really care about Jess, or about her friends or her family. All he has to worry about is his brother, but there's people and miles that make it impossible to say anything or do the things he wants to. Dean can't reach out and touch, now, he can't pretend he's the big brother that can handle anything.

He wants to touch, and he can't. He wants to leave, get the road under them, a few thousand miles between Sam and those flames, and he can't.

He's useless, and the itch is burying itself under his skin. Do something.

"Sam. Let's go." Away. To Canada. Anywhere but here.

But they can't. They can only go so far before they're called back, and though the Impala's warm, he hates her for not just stealing them away, for letting that hard look settle so comfortably on Sam's face.

The only thing he can think of is getting them a room, getting them showers and food and sleep.

Sam's blank, slow. Every time Dean says something it takes a minute or two before he reacts, and if it's not an order to do something - get up, come on, through here - Sam doesn't respond. It's still new, Dean knows, his brother's still in shock, but there's too much of John in it, all those months of grief and rage. Sam, he wants to say, talk to me, tell me something, and he's half way afraid that Sam would. That maybe he'd open his mouth and spill everything out.

When he gets Sam ushered into their hotel room, Dean leaves him standing in the middle of it to go start the water. He sits on the edge of the tub and holds his hand under the stream. It's hot, steam moving and covering the faucet, and he watches his skin turn pink and red. He watches as his fingers curl with the pain and it's only when it stops, when his skin is numb that he pulls it out, adds cold into the mix.

It's still mostly hot, though. He thinks Sam'll like that - the chance to put his own burns on his skin, erase the fire, and come out as pink-stained as Dean's hand. Maybe it'll make his brother feel better, or maybe Dean needs it, maybe he needs to know that everything is gone, that it's just Sam, or will be, when every trace of that other life is gone.

"Sam, come on. Shower's ready."

Sam's there, and Dean almost jumps before he can stop it. He manages not to, but his heart beats wildly, aches in his chest. "Christ. Warn a guy."

Sam doesn't move, not an inch forward or away. He's still, so still, and Dean says, "You gonna get in?" There's still no response, and Dean leans over, tugs at the hem of Sam's shirt. "This has gotta go, you know."

Nothing.

And he's angry, suddenly so angry, that this is what they're reduced to, what some girl, some stranger, reduced them to. That he's here, in some creepy motel bathroom, having to strip his brother out of his clothes. "She had no right," he hisses, throwing Sam's shirt onto the toilet seat before attacking the buttons on Sam's jeans. "You hear me, Sam? You fuckin hear me?"

Sam's hand suddenly moves, covers his own and pushes it away. "I got the rest," and then Sam stumbles a step to the side, closer to the bathtub and the steam curling over the plastic curtain. "You can go."

Dean nods. It's convulsive, painful. "I just. I'm going to get some food." Vending machine snacks. Something close. "You just get clean." Don't do anything stupid, be here when I get back.

Sam's head is bowed, sweat-sticky hairs pressed to his neck. He doesn't say anything and Dean turns around. Leaves.

Sam and Dean had only been in Conesberg Wisconsin for a week, when Sam came out of his classroom complaining "I don't feel good." he said.

"Is somebody teasing you again, Sammy?" Dean asked with a concerned face on the way home.
"No, I mean I feel physically bad."
"You hardly ever get sick." Dean felt Sam's forehead."You don't have a fever."
"I know. I don't, I don't feel hot. I just feel crappy and I have a headache."
"Oh, I see." Dean replied, focusing on the road.

The next day when Dean tried to wake Sam up for school he discovered something.
Sam had red spots all over his body.
He had to laugh.

"Sam!" he shook his twelve year old baby brother awake.
"I don't wanna go to school, I'm itchy!" Sam yelled in defiance.
"No, go look in the mirror!"

Sam got up and wandered towards the bathroom to look into the mirror.
"Oh my God! Dean! I have Chicken Pox!"
"It's pretty obvious, isn't it?"

Nearly the rest of the day Sam was whining about how itchy he was.
"Will you stop acting like a two year old?" asked Dean."I had them too! I was man about it!"
"No, I cannot stop whining, because according to you and dad, all I ever do is whine! Do you serve cheese with your whine Sam? Whine aged 12 years! ENOUGH! You're complaining more then me!"

"Stop scratching you are gonna make it worse!"
"No, I'm not!"
"You're gonna make yourself scar!"
"I don't care if the itching stops!" Sam was rather weepy and wiping his eyes trying to cover it up.
He wanted Dean to be proud of him and know he was brave.
Dean knew, but Sam was not very confident.

"Sam, I know you're crying. It's okay."
"No, I'm not!"
"Okay, just give me your hand."

Sam put his hand out.Dean rubbed some lotion on it.
"Whats that?"
"Aloe vera." Dean gave Sam the tube. "Here, rub wherever it itches."

It was night now, and Dean was laying awake watching Sam scratch himself in his sleep.

Dean got up and slapped his hands.
"The lotion didn't work I see?"
"No!" Sam replied, continuing to scratch.
Dean slapped his hands again.

Then went into the kitchen, got two mismatched oven mitts, and some duct tape from the garage.
He grabbed Sam's hands and put them on, then quickly duct taped them on.
"Ha, Now you can't scratch bitch!"
"Jerk!"

"Why is one a lobster and one a crocodile?"
"So you can make a fashion statement."
"Nice."
Then they both went to bed and fell asleep.

FILLED - Coda 5x14, Gen 1/2

“I’m good now.”

“You sure?”

“Yeah, thanks.”

Dean nodded and let Sam make the last steps to the bathroom by himself. When he heard the water being turned on, he leant against the wall next to the door and slid down until he sat on the floor.

At least the screaming was over. The faint shaking of his limbs Sam hadn’t managed to quiet hide, though.

“Need some painkillers?” Dean asked after a while, loud enough to be heard over the running water.

Sam took his time before he finally responded with a “No” that lacked meaning.

So, yes. Dean sighed and reached up to fumble blindly in the drawer to his right.

The water was shut off and after another minute Sam stumbled out of the bathroom, still damp and with a towel around his waist.

“Seriously, Dean,” he said when he spotted the pills in Dean’s hands. “I don’t want anymore drugs.”

For a moment he considered to insist that Sam took some, just so he wouldn’t have to see him walk around in pain any longer. God knows Sam had experienced enough of that over the course of the last two days and nights. But he saw Sam’s point. Was glad Sam had made that point, in fact.

So, Dean got up, placed the box back inside the drawer and slowly walked over to where his brother sat on the bed.

“Hey,” he said, but Sam didn’t raise his face from his hands. He sighed and sat down next to him. “What’s wrong?” It wasn’t that he didn’t knew. He knew damn well. Sam had to get it out, though.

“What’s wrong?” Sam snorted and looked up at him, incredulous. “Where do I begin?”

“Sam…”

“Don’t tell me it’s not my fault, Dean!” Sam spat, angry. Not at Dean though, but at himself and Dean wished that he wouldn’t be so goddamn fucked himself, that he could actually fix this. “Because it is, and you know it!” Sam said and Dean wondered where his brother took the energy from to get worked up like this after the strain of going through detox.

“I actually thought I would be strong enough.” Sam laughed humorlessly and carded a distressed hand through his wet hair. “But I’m not… I know that now, Dean. I’m not strong enough to control it, much less fight it.”

“You said ‘no’.”

“What?”

“In that diner, with all those demons. You told Famine ‘no’.”

“So?” Sam stared at him, confused.

“Looked pretty damn strong from where I was standing.”

“Dean…”

“I gotta admit, I didn’t expect it. When you barged in there, blood around your mouth and Famine offered you all those sons of bitches, I thought…” He trailed off and Sam averted his gaze with a pained nod. “Anyway, you didn’t,” Dean continued quickly. “And for that, I’m proud of you, Sammy.”

Sam’s eyes were wide when his head snapped back up to stare at him in disbelieve.

“I really am,” he said and offered his brother a smile. For the first time in a long time he felt like he meant it, too.

“Thanks,” Sam mumbled and returned his smile tentatively.

Silence fell over them and for a moment they settled into the easy, quiet camaraderie they used to have.

Teen!Chesters. Sam & John have one of their cataclysmic blowouts and John is later landed on the hospital on critical condition. Sam has tremendous guilt, is terrified of losing his father, and Dean's generally awesome and comforting big brother, despite being so scared and messed up from seeing his Dad in such a state.

On a hunt in midwinter, Sam almost freezes to death. Dean finds him blue-lipped and still in a snowbank, gets him inside + takes care of him. Delirious Sam and extremely protective Dean would be wonderful. gen, wincest, whatever floats your boat.

“J-Jess?”

Dean froze. He’d just added and tucked in blanket number three, and Sam was finally trying to focus on him. “Uh... not quite, Sammy.”

“J-Jess?”

Jesus Christ.

Dean bit his lip. Then he smoothed Sam’s hair back, still way too relieved to be anything but grateful.

“No, dude. It’s Dean.”

Sam’s brow furrowed, his throat worked, and then it was clearly all too much and he closed his eyes.

Sam’s skin was still too cold, and while his lips were no longer blue Dean knew from getting his father through something similar that, stuttered confusion aside, until Sam started vibrating like a pneumatic drill they were not out of the woods.

Which was why when Sam groaned and jackknifed across the bed about three minutes later, Dean was right there to breathe out a sigh of relief and catch him.

“D-d-dean?”

Much better. “Right here, you reckless fucking idiot.”

“D-d-dean?”

Okay, so maybe the scolding was going to have to wait.

“Yeah. Right here, Sammy.” He organized Sam and the blankets again, and then leaned in, pinning the shivering figure into them as best he could. “You okay?”

“C-c-cold.”

Dean smiled. “No shit, genius.” He leaned in a little more. Sam’s eyes were focusing again, but his teeth were the loudest thing in the room. And considering how high Dean had the ancient heating system turned up, that was saying something.

“No milk, but how about wrapping your hands around some hot coffee?”

Dean took all the shuddering as a yes.


In the end it was Dean who wrapped his hands around the coffee, since Sam would have shaken half the cup into the blankets before swallowing a single mouthful.

Dean got Sam up on the pillows and held the cup to his mouth at just the right angle. “There you go. Come on, Sam, a little more.” It was a litany and a practice that came easy, borne of a childhood spent spoonfeeding all manner of soup and mashed up fruit into one fussy baby brother.

“That’s better, much better. Just... what?”

Sam was glaring at him. “Suh-suhweet,” he managed, and Dean’s chest unlocked because really, everything was going to be okay.

“Hey, you need the energy as well as the heat, iceman. Just finish it for me.”

Sam did. Dean offered another but Sam shook his head. At least, Dean thought he shook his head. His teeth were still chattering and it was hard to see anything except dark hair and a furrowed forehead above the blankets.

“Dean?”

Oh, and the puppy eyes, of course.

“Sammy, no...”

“Please, Dean. I’m fuh-fuh-fucking freezin’.”

“That’s because you’re a fuh-fuh-fuckin’ moron.”

But Dean was already standing and peeling off his shirt. He got down to his t-shirt and boxers, lifted a corner of the blankets, and then pointed a finger at his brother.

“Some ground rules first. You are not taking shit off, you are not putting those ice-cold feet anywhere near me, and you are not, I repeat not, cuddling me.”

Sam nodded, shifted over, and then broke two out of the three fairly instantly and persistently.

About all he managed to do, was keep his shit on.

MSN posted a little quickie list of Top 10 Scariest Sleep Disorders (http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/35606027/ns/health-behavior/wid/11915773?GT1=31036) yesterday. Go have a look at the sleep paralysis blurb when combined with the hallucination section.

From experience, I can tell you that this really sucks and is scary as all hell. Seems to hit more after puberty too. So, anything from Teen!Chesters to season 5 boys is fine. I, er, am not opposed to a little bed sharing or man cuddling. *hides*

IT IS SCARY AS SHIT YES IT IS. According to my doctor I have "hypnogogic sleep paralysis disorder," which hits for months at a time and then will disappear for awhile before coming back with a vengeance.

So someone should write this! Especially since whenever it happens to me I really really want to be woken up, but can't move, and my roommates have told me that I make these strangled little whimpering sounds -- which would go STRAIGHT to Dean's heart if it were Sam. Don't you think?

Not, oh, I'm a little crazy, but INSANE in whatever form you choose and Dean must reach him somehow. Angst is good, but angst with really freaking creepy is better. Any season, gen preferred.

They're on a hunt and Dean is hurt (yes, I know what community I'm in--wait for it! *g*). Sam must get him to safety. The only thing is...Sam is hurt too. At first he believes it isn't that bad. Then gradually he realizes it is--worse even than Dean's injury. He tries to hide the severity so Dean won't worry. Of course, he doesn't quite succeed.

Slightly AU, Pre-Series - John quietly checks in on Sam after he moves in with Jessica. Makes sure the place is safe, checks out the neighbors, accidentially drops a hundred behind the dresser where some sharp-eyed boy will eventually find it, you know, John stuff. He leaves as he came, silently and without a word. Sam comes home and sees John from a distance and has FEELINGS. LOL
