Fic Challenge Prompting Post!

Okay, from November 2nd to November 8th inclusively, leave your prompts here! Five prompts per participant only. You don't have to participate in the challenge to leave a prompt, although it is encouraged! I will compile a master list under the cut, along with claims. (You don't have to prompt in order to claim, either, for that matter, but again, it is encouraged!)

One prompt per comment, please. Warn for spoilers. Specify relevant pairings (if applicable) and if your prompt is gen, slash, het, other or if you don't mind either way. :)

After November 9th, prompting will be closed, and claiming commences until December 2nd, but you can post your stories at any time until February 2nd. I will compile a list and make the claiming post as early as possible on November 10th.

This has probably been done before, but what the heck, here goes:

Any season. Sam finds out he has an aneurysm and Dean overprotects Sam from just about everything because he's afraid that Sam could keel over at any moment if the aneurysm bursts. I just want to see Dean so scared of Sam's head potentially 'exploding' that he drives Sam half-insane when he won't let him drive, do any physical exercise, go anywhere on his own, or even lock the door when he takes a shower (or other mundane tasks that Dean is suddenly afraid of Sam doing on his own, I'm not picky). Gen preferred.

Gen. Season 7.

So, it’s not just Sam. Dean’s a little messed up this season too as we’ve seen, just in a different way. I’d love to see a fic where Dean, with all the best intentions, intentionally keeps Sam off balance or ill just enough that he relies completely on Dean to discern what’s real and to protect him. The whole ‘big brother knows best’ thing, but with Sam now, after everything that’s happened and how unstable he knows he is, willing to trust him and defer to him completely.

Dean thinks it’s what’s best for Sam, that he makes all the decisions for them and keeps Sam dependent on him. It’d be nice to see an outside take on this, i.e. Bobby. He knows what Dean’s doing isn’t exactly right for Sam and that something’s very wrong with Dean too, but maybe Bobby just doesn’t quite know what to do about it.

Gen. Set Season 7.

Look at Sam’s instability post-wall dealing with a threat. The boys are still hunting and they get along pretty well most of the time. The Cage is just a part of Sam now that they learn to deal with and work around.

They're on a hunt and facing the baddie/monster/demon, whatever and Sam has an ill-timed break. Probably set off by the baddie. Dean trying to protect his messed-up brother, Sam trying to get it together enough to help. A gloating demon/bad guy who gets what he deserves in the end. Basically, even broken by hell, the Winchesters are still a force to be reckoned with and they can pull through anything to save each other.

Sam stumbles, cringing and making a broken off noise in the back of his throat, but still trying to get to Dean and the demon/bad guy smirks.

Gen. Sam and Adam interaction.

Sam protected Adam in the Cage. He wouldn’t let them near his brother. Big brothers protect little brothers after all. But madness isn’t just confined to the living. Still in the cage, Sam’s unstable, driven insane by the mind games and physical torture from Michael and Lucifer. Adam knows what Sam’s doing for him and loves his brother for it. He consoles Sam and tries to comfort and calm him in the time they’re both left alone.

Bonus if Sam’s eventually really far gone and Adam’s words can’t soothe him, so he speaks and calms Sam as if he were Dean, which works. Double Bonus if, after decades (centuries?) of torture, the only word Sam knows anymore is “Dean” and he chants it like a prayer.

Sam runs into some folks he used to know (as he is wont to do). But he is big with the seizures and hallucinations and also he's pretty sure they're demons sent by Lucifer to spy on him. Bad times are had by all.

The Winchesters just don’t seem able to die or stay dead, something perpetually special about them, beyond just being vessels. It’s a long time on (centuries maybe, though the boys don't age and the car doesn't rust) and the world’s much the same. There are still hunters, demons, angels, monsters, and the Winchesters. Their moral compass has become a bit skewed in that they still hunt and save people, but they aren’t willing to risk each other anymore. If Dean has to let Sam go again, like he did when he jumped into the Cage, in order to save the world, the world can fend for itself as far as he’s concerned. They're not evil though.

They’re all that matters to one another, period. But, after all that time, Cage memories have irreparably altered Sam’s personality (think River from Firefly or a less evil Drusilla from Buffy) and his powers are permanently back. Dean’s fine with it all, his own hell and time having skewed the lines of his black and white world. All he wants is to take care of Sam and kill baddies.

So, yeah, really much the same as they’ve always been taken up a notch; just Sam’s more unstable/insane and Dean’s even less willing to entertain anyone not Sam. And they’re both superior hunters, Dean in the conventional sense, Sam with his abilities, though because of the way his mind is, he wields them somewhat childishly (protect Dean, save people, ‘ooh, I want that pretty book up there' and it levitates to him)

They don’t care what anyone thinks. They’re just fairly happy being together.

And the cosmos, as it is, is fine with it too. Bobby happily in heaven and Cas still a friend to the brothers. Happy slightly-off brothers.

Sam with either aphasia or some speech impediment. He is otherwise perfectly normal, just can't communicate with any kind of ease. Bonus points if Dean is the only one who can properly understand him. Any season. Gen preferred, but Wincest is fine.

Gen or Cas/Sam. Cas shows up again, whole and contrite as hell. He wants to be punished, to be killed, but damaged!Sam does the worst thing he can do. He forgives him.

Bonus points for a lengthy Dean and Cas argument, possibly with a lot of eyebrow speak, and ending with Dean never being able to forgive and forget what Cas did to Sam, but with the hope that they can move past it. Because I am a sap.

Cas is back. Sam is a little (sometimes a lot) insane. And Dean, after being allowed to finally take care of Sammy again, is actually doing alright. They still hunt, but have a home base at Bobby's rebuilt house. Leviathan's are either neutralized or controlled. They're just another type of monster to hunt.

Dean and Cas reconcile, particularly to watch over Sam. Sam and Cas speak to each other in Enochian sometimes. Yea! Team Free Will is back!

Dizzy/disoriented/hallucinating Sam falls in the shower. He is hurt (author's choice how). Cue massive amounts of comfort, Winchester-style. Preferably with lots of cuddling (sexy or not, don't care).

Teen Sam

A teenage Sam (about 15 or 16) has been spending a lot of time by himself in a motel as his father and brother hunt. He is alone more than they are there. Someone else notices that his family isn't there and has been trying to get friendly with Sam.

The guy though is creeping him out and Sam starts to put off going 'home' later and later each day in an effort to avoid the guy. Sam hasn't said anything to his family because he doesn't want them thinking he can't handle one creepy guy, especially since the guy hasn't really tried anything and it is just a vibe Sam is picking up on.

But, unbeknownst to Sam, his family has picked up that something is up and make an unexpected trip back, cutting their hunt short (for whatever reason you want, legitimate or just because they are worried) and catch the guy cornering Sam outside the room. Sam gets back inside and locks the door.

Sam's family then corners the guy and lets him know - in no uncertain terms - that he isn't to mess with Sam. Basically I'd love to see some growly older Winchesters. It is up to you how or why the guy is creepy...(is a pervert? A psycopath? Pimping drugs? Cultist?) totally up to you :)

Gen, Season 2

Sam's powers started manifesting at an early age. Jon, realizing that his son was different, found some mystical way (in the form of a pill/medicine concoction) to suppress Sam's abilities, all without anyone else knowing. Under the stress of John's death, Sam and Dean both forgot about his "pills" and Sam's powers begin to manifest again, only stronger. The brothers now have to deal with Sam's abilities, John's death, and the secret John left for Dean to bear.

Sam is tired of Bobby creeping around him. It is obvious that the guy has not forgiven Sam for almost killing him when he didn't have his soul. In an act of attempted penance, Sam goes up on the roof to fix a leak while Dean is in town on a beer run. A phone call sends Bobby on the roof to get Sam, startling the kid who looses his footing and starts to slide off. Bobby manages to grab his wrists to keep him going over. And of course that is when it starts to rain. Sam is dangling off the roof and knows that he's going to pull them both down. He wants Bobby to let go, which the older man refuses to do (what can he say, he actually does love Sam)...

That is the scene Dean drives up to. Would love for things to be good between Bobby and Sam again in the end, and Dean having a couple more gray hair!!

Future fic, curtain fic, Sam/Dean or gen.

Sam and Dean have been retired from hunting and settled for a while now. Sam's Cage aftermath has become not exactly fine, but an accepted part of their lives: he has good patches and bad patches, but he and Dean are used to it and know how to manage. Then Sam is injured in some totally mundane way, and his mobility is permanently compromised. So much of the coping that's worked for him for years has to do with routines that are now disrupted: no more runs, no more long walks, he can't even go up and down the damn stairs. If he and Dean are fighting Sam can't get out of the house for a few hours to cool off, just when they'd finally gotten their relationship on an even keel around their different ways of dealing.

Cue Sam spiraling down and having to readjust. Dean who isn't coping too well himself is always welcome.

I've been trying to push on with a first draft for a different fic but despite my best efforts I just can't get this out of my head! I've never filled a prompt before and I'm pretty new to LJ but I'd love to try and give it a go if that's OK with you?

The only problem is that I'm from the UK and season 7 hasn't aired here yet, so if I claimed this would it be OK if the fic goes AU from 6.22 and then jumps into a future fic? If it is, do want to make any changes/additions to the original prompt regarding Sam's mental status?

I'd love to hear your thoughts as this prompt is becoming a rather exciting and terrifying nuisance!

Let's pretend Sam swallowed a lot more of that demon blood that was shoved down his throat in 5x3, and after a few days, he starts having withdrawal symptoms, bad enough that Lindsey eventually ignores Sam's protests and calls Dean. Because all that rambling talk about Lucifer is freaking her out.

(I would love it if Sam told her who his "hunting" buddies really were after the confrontation in the bar so she at least has some passing knowledge, but that's up to the author.)

Considering past experience, the feds don't buy the claim that the Winchesters are dead. A country-wide manhunt ensues, Sam is found and arrested, but the strain of the Dean and Amy thing and his arrest on multiple murder charges cracks him. Satan vision 24/7, and Dean isn't there to ground him. Cue Sam breaking down on national television in front of the media circus, a lawyer pleading insanity (Sam gibbering in Enochian in the background), etcetera etcetera.

And Dean can only watch.

Gen or Wincest; set any time you like, but I admit to craving S3 fic like chocolate

Sam's supernaturally poisoned on a case. Dean's able to scrape together something to mitigate the effects, but while that's enough to keep his ass from dying, it's certainly not doing much about the symptoms.

Puking, delirium, sweating, agonizing full body cramps, blinding headaches, that incredibly awful full-body feeling you get with honest-to-God chemical poisoning, adverse effects on his mojo—whatever you can come up with; go nuts. Super mega bonus points and brownies with cookies in them and cherries on top if they both actually have to do stuff before the collapsing and schmoop can commence.

Plot of any kind will be loved and adored and licked like ice cream, but if you want to just cut to the H/C!porn, that's groovy with me, too. I'm a woman of simple tastes.

Gen. Season 7.

Dean holding a weak and seizing Sam against him, Sam’s back to his chest. Dean's keeping Sam's wrists locked in front of him and trying to cushion Sam’s head as much as possible against his shoulder. Dean grows more desperate as it lasts for minutes and Sam can’t breathe through a lot of it. He comes out of it breathing harshly. (If you need to freak poor Dean out even more, back to back seizures just as he’s starting to think Sam’s okay would be a great way to go)

The boys are dealing with the day to day of Sam's new state. Dean tries to treat him as normally as possible and stay calm when he spaces out. But the stretches get longer and at some point, Sam stops breathing.

Cue freaked-out Dean watching Sam just not breathe with nothing he can physically fix, begging Sammy to breathe.
