A Time For Change

Most beloved ohsam community members,

The time has come for me to step down as moderator for this community. Real life obligations and my own slow drift away from the show (but not its fans!) have made it clear that I need to pass the torch to a new generation of people who love it best when Sam is bleeding (or fainting, or crying, or... you get the idea). As sad as it makes me to do this, I think it would be even sadder if my lack of involvement was what signalled the end of this fine community of h/c writers.

I am therefore putting out a call to any and all who would be interested in taking up the reins and breathing new life into this place. Please contact me, and we'll hash things out.

What's involved in being a moderator?

This comm is pretty laid-back, so being a moderator is not all that labour intensive as far as I'm concerned. Here are some of the main responsibilities:

1- Monitor posts to make sure they're properly tagged with trigger and spoiler warnings, and adhere overall to community guidelines.

2- Monitor the community to keep out spammers and abusive posters/commenters (I can't ever remember an instance of the latter in this community, tbh.).

3- Run comment-fic memes and other fanworks challenges at regular intervals. Our rule of thumb used to be four times a year: one for November 2nd, one for the comm's anniversary, one for Sam's birthday, and one for the comm's half-year anniversary, all of which fall conveniently at (roughly) quarterly intervals.

4- Promote all community events in other parts of fandom (other LJ communities, Tumblr, Twitter, etc.).

If you want to do more, then that's awesome. What I listed above is what I consider to be the bare minimum. I'm not the only mod, so whoever takes over from me wouldn't be alone in an unfamiliar world. I'm also still going to be around to give advice or pointers as needed.
