Loved the prompt. Hope what I came up with is good enough!

This fic is un-beta'd. Excuse any errors. Fixed any I could find, will definitely go over it again soon.

Title: Lost
Rating: PG 13
Genre: Gen, hurt/comfort
Characters: Sam, Dean, Castiel
Word count: ~3100
Summary: Dean is not ready to lose Sam. Dean will never be ready to lose Sam. Except, maybe it's really out of his control this time.
Spoilers: Through to episode 10.22. AU for 10.23, including the promo

Warnings: Swearing, suicide attempt, depression, severely ill Sam

Disclaimer: I don't own anything you recognise. I really wish I did, but nope. Kripke is the one who created them.

Written for the following prompt at ohsam:

Sam is acting weird. Forgetting things, occasional bouts of aphasia or spouting gibberish, dizziness, and it's very quickly getting worse. All unexplained occurrences. Until Dean insists he see a doctor and Sam is diagnosed as having rapid early onset dementia, already very advanced and likely caused by the numerous head injuries he's had over the years. Or is it? Dean won't accept that Sam, the brother he's protected all his life, might soon be lost to him. Dean looks for a miracle cure and even thinks a witch's spell might be behind it. All the while, Sam is aware he's losing chunks of himself and he's scared, tortured by the knowledge that he will lose his memories, his intelligence, and become an empty shell, a burden to Dean for the rest of his life. He considers/tries suicide maybe.

Whether Dean is successful in finding a cure or not is up to the writer, but just no miracle angel cures. This is kind of a dual hurt/comfort story.

Title: The Road Within
Author: [livejournal.com profile] magicletters/soclosetonight
Rating: R
Pairing: gen
Summary: Mary has just lost a long battle with cancer, leaving a whirlwind in her wake. John disappears, Sam's tic disorder seems to spiral out of control, and Dean is doing his best to keep it all together. With few options left, the boys pack up and head to Bobby's for help tracking down their missing dad in hopes of piecing their family back together again.

Note: I wrote this after watching the movie The Road Within, which features a character suffering from a pretty debilitating form of Tourette's. An idea to write a story set in the Supernatural world immediately popped into my head, and this is the end result. Hope you enjoy!

Title: Beyond Repair
Author: Center of the Galaxy
Rating: PG-13
Characters: Sam, Dean
Word Count: 2,503
Warnings: One reference to suicide (nothing detailed)
Spoilers: Post 10x03

Summary: "That’s the thing about Sam—he’s like a puzzle. You’ve spent your whole life learning to decode him, studying what each gesture means, what the inflection of his words translates to—all of this helps you create a picture of who Sam is and what he needs from you. You’ve become an expert at reading Sam, often knowing what Sam needs before he does. And right now, Sam’s on edge and a breakdown is coming. The only question is, can you stop it?"

Author's Note: Written for the fanworks challenge for the following prompt by [livejournal.com profile] kcscribbler: "Post-10.03. Dean thinks it's a little weird that Sam seems to be just fine, but his let's-talk-about-it-emo-little-brother appears to be functioning all points normal, recovering physically and with no real emotional repercussions of Dean's stint as a demon. Until one night a few weeks later, when somebody Dean ticked off as a demon catches up with them. Dean's more annoyed than anything else, because the idiot was stupidly easy to disarm, and shallow stab wounds hurt like hell, and he's never going to get the blood out of this shirt. But Sam? Sam freaks. Out. Dean gets a first-hand look at just how traumatizing his death was - and how even being a demon doesn't erase the knowledge of how to comfort six-odd feet of panicking little brother." Sorry this is one day late. I had internet troubles yesterday.
