Hey, Sam fans! It’s almost time to celebrate the birthday of our favorite little brother, and we’re doing that the way we do it best – with a meme! This time it’s a little different, though. With our recent addition of the OhSam tumblr, we’re teaming up with SPN-littlebro to host a cross-platform birthday extravaganza!

Here’s how it’s going to work.

Saturday, March 25th: A master post will go up here on the OhSam LJ for people to leave one-word/one-phrase prompts (for example: “autumn”, “blood loss”, “surprise”). Please leave only one prompt per comment, to make it easier to keep track of prompts and fills. Anon posting will be enabled for non-LJ users to leave prompts, as well.

Saturday, April 1st: The masterpost for prompts will close, and no new prompts can be added after this point. There won’t be any claims – each prompt is open and can be filled by multiple people. We’re excited to see the variety of things you all come up with!

April: You have the month of April to work on fills. These can be any hurt/comfort, Sam-centric original work (fic, art, graphics, poetry, gif sets, vids, you name it!).

Monday, May 1st to Sunday, May 7th: Another masterpost will go up on OhSam LJ to keep track of the fills, and you can begin posting your work on either LJ or tumblr. If you post a fill on LJ, please comment on the master fills post with a link to your LJ. Tumblr users should tag their creations with #celebratingsam and, if you can, post a link of LJ when you fill a prompt. Anon commenting will be enabled for this purpose, but if you can’t, feel free to let the mods at @spnlittlebro or @ohsamtumbles know and we’ll make sure your fill gets added to the list.

Written for the following prompt at ohsam:

Sam is acting weird. Forgetting things, occasional bouts of aphasia or spouting gibberish, dizziness, and it's very quickly getting worse. All unexplained occurrences. Until Dean insists he see a doctor and Sam is diagnosed as having rapid early onset dementia, already very advanced and likely caused by the numerous head injuries he's had over the years. Or is it? Dean won't accept that Sam, the brother he's protected all his life, might soon be lost to him. Dean looks for a miracle cure and even thinks a witch's spell might be behind it. All the while, Sam is aware he's losing chunks of himself and he's scared, tortured by the knowledge that he will lose his memories, his intelligence, and become an empty shell, a burden to Dean for the rest of his life. He considers/tries suicide maybe.

Whether Dean is successful in finding a cure or not is up to the writer, but just no miracle angel cures. This is kind of a dual hurt/comfort story.
